I hit the 4WD around 5PM last night and made the treacherous journey through Richmond, VA’s ice-covered roads to UofR’s Robins Center to take in what I thought was going to be a shootout among two of the A-10’s best offenses. What I found when I got there however was a defensive rock fight and two teams who would go on to shoot a combined 18.4% from deep (7-38 from distance, but to be fair, all seven makes were from the visiting team).
Davidson picked up a big A-10 road win thanks to a career-high 34 points from sophomore Peyton Aldridge, defeating Richmond 78-70 to move to 4-3 in conference play heading into a Friday night matchup against the league’s current No.1, VCU.
The loss drops Richmond to just 2-4 in A-10 play, a record that now includes three home losses. Things will get no easier for the Spiders with back-to-back road games at GW and St. Bonaventure.
Relive the action and hear what both coaches, as well as Richmond junior forward, TJ Cline, had to say after the game.
