Just when it looked as if things couldn’t get any better for the Rams, they got a commitment from 2016 target Malik Crowfield on Thursday afternoon. The Rams have won 9 straight games and are undoubtedly the hottest team in the Atlantic 10 at the moment. Little did they know, their momentum is beginning to carry over to the recruiting trail.

Malik Crowfield is a shooting guard from the class of 2016 out of Riverside Academy in La Place, Louisiana. He plays for the New Orleans Elite AAU basketball team. Crowfield stands at 6-4 and weights in at 190 pounds. He had an array of offers from other schools, but he ultimately chose the Rams. Crowfield was being recruited by Baylor, Houston, Louisiana Lafayette, LSU, Tulsa, UTEP, and UMass.
Crowfield is a 3 star recruit according to ESPN‘s rankings. He comes in as the 11th best in the state, 47th best for his position, and 67th best in his region for prospects in the class of 2016. Scout and Rivals also have him ranked as a three star recruit.
Crowfield has a great frame for his position and is a very versatile shooting guard. He has the size to power his way through the lane, but he also has the shooting touch to knock down the outside jumpers. He should be a great addition for a Rams team that loses both Melvin Johnson and Korey Billbury to graduation this spring. All in all, Malik Crowfield is a good get for first-year head coach Will Wade. He’s in a great spot right now, delivering success on the court, and recruiting new talent away from the court. If you’re a VCU fan, you have to be pretty satisfied right now.
