Duquesne’s men’s basketball team stranded in east coast blizzard on PA Turnpike

After scoring an 86-75 road victory over George Mason yesterday, the Dukes ran into some bad fortune while making their way home. On their way back from Pittsburgh, they ran into the east coast blizzard that left them stranded on the side of a Pennsylvania turnpike for the duration of the night.

Head coach Jim Ferry told ESPN that the bus stopped around 9:15 ET and hasn’t started moving since. Essentially, the entire team is hunkered down and hanging tight. According to the team, everyone is safe and warm- probably just a little bit bored.

This morning around 6:20 AM, the team’s Twitter page posted a photo of the bus stuck in nearly 18″ of snow. There’s still no word on any movement, but according to ESPN, the team is keeping spirits high by playing games, watching movies, and munching on the remaining leftover pizza on the bus. Our thoughts and prayers are with the team as they try to make their way home to Pittsburgh on Saturday.

Here are some tweets from the team regarding the situation:
