Dayton suspends Dyshawn Pierre for first semester

ESPN’s Jeff Goodman is reporting that Dayton’s leading scorer, Dyshawn Pierre, will be suspended for the first semester of this season meaning a return for the final two games of non-conference play including a big OOC tilt against the Arkansas Razorbacks at UD Arena.

Pierre was Dayton’s leading returning scorer and rebounder, averaging 12.7 points and 8.1 boards per contest as a junior with the Flyers.

The Flyers will be without the A-10 Second Team All-Conference selection for big matchups against the likes of Alabama, Vanderbilt and the field of the Advocare Invitational including an opening round game against Iowa. They will also miss the big’s presence in some sneaky tough games against teams like UT Chattanooga and North Florida.

This won’t be the first time this group has dealt with adversity however, as Archie Miller’s team dismissed two bigs early last season in Robinson and Scott en route to a A-10 runner-up and NCAA tournament season.
