Saint Joe’s Loses to George Mason… Again.

The Saint Joseph’s Hawks suffered a 71-62 loss to the George Mason Patriots this Saturday. This was Saint Joe’s second loss to George Mason this week after a double overtime loss to the Patriots on Wednesday.

George Mason was led by guard Jordan Miller who finished with 18 points, 1 assist, and 5 total rebounds. He also shot 7-16 from the field and 3-4 from the free throw line. In addition, Miller led the Patriots in minutes for the game.

On the other side, Saint Joseph’s University was led by forward Taylor Funk who scored 21 points on 9-20 shooting. Funk also finished the game with 5 rebounds and 1 block. In addition to Funk’s contributions, Saint Joe’s was led by freshman Jordan Hall who had an impressive 15 points, 7 rebounds, and 7 assists. While Funk was the points leader for the Hawks, many of Saint Joe’s scoring opportunities originated from the dynamic play of point forward Jordan Hall.

Even though this was another close game for George Mason, the Patriots were still able to overcome their opponent and win the game. This week’s two wins over Saint Joe’s brings George Mason’s conference record to 4-4 on the season. In comparison, Saint Joe’s finds itself still searching for their first conference win.

Is Jordon Hall a candidate for A10 Rookie of the Year?

Should people consider Jordon Hall a candidate for A10 rookie of the year? The answer is yes. So far this season Hall has averaged 7.4 points, 6.4 assist, and 5.4 rebounds a game. However, the stats don’t tell the entire story.

First, as a freshman, Jordon Hall is leading the Atlantic 10 in total assist with 77. In addition, Hall is 2nd in the conference and 13th in the country in assists per game. Hall is also making an impact with his off the ball play. He currently sits 14th in steals and 15th in rebounds in the Atlantic 10.

One glaring issue with Hall’s play is the 30 turnovers he has this season. This shouldn’t come as a surprise as Hall, who is still a freshman, is adjusting to the speed of college basketball. Another part of his play that needs to improve is scoring. While Hall has big scoring nights, the points come in waves. Some nights he is scoring 15 points and on other nights he is scoring only 2 points. Hall will need to be more consistent with scoring if he wants to win Atlantic 10 rookie of the year.
