Redshirt sophomore forward Tomas Verbinskis is leaving the University of Richmond, a source has informed me (@noahgoldberg10). Verbinskis missed most of the second half of last season with feet and ankle injuries and this year has struggled to find playing time, seeing just 2.7 minutes per game. With a true 9-10 man rotation ahead of him already and Connor Crabtree (incoming sophomore transfer from Tulane) and Isaiah Wilson (incoming 3-star recruit via 247 Sports) coming next year, Verbinskis likely read between the lines that his action wasn’t going to increase.
Richmond is sitting at 7-1 following a win at Hampton University on Tuesday. The Spiders look ahead to a matchup with South Alabama on Sunday, who lost to Auburn by just one point and is the Spiders’ second-highest remaining opponent on the KenPom rankings, behind Alabama.
