Rhode Island has been hot on the recruiting trail these past few weeks, but internally, a big issue popped up last Thursday. Assistant Coach Tyron Boswell was arrested at the Ryan Center as he refused to stop yelling and struggling as police tried to escort him. Apparently, a locker room fight broke out in Rhode Island’s home arena, and Boswell would not calm down, leading to his arrest and subsequent administrative leave.

Tyron Boswell was actually just promoted to full-time assistant coach from DOBO last season. Unfortunately, this mishap reflects badly on the basketball program, and even though Boswell was charged with misdemeanors, it’s not the kind of press Rhode Island wants just 2 months away from the basketball season. The Rams are expected to be one of the best in the A-10 this season behind a stellar backcourt and senior class.
