CBS Sports reported on Thursday that Michigan State transfer Javon Bess decommitted from Akron and will instead transfer to Saint Louis. Travis Ford picks up yet another pivotal player and is certainly building something special at Saint Louis. Though he’ll have to sit out a year, Bess will be a huge addition to the Billikens once he’s able to take the court for the first time. He’ll have two years of eligibility remaining.

Javon Bess scored 3.0 points and grabbed 2.4 rebounds per game this past season though he played just 11.4 minutes per contest. Bess was certainly an under-utilized forward for Tom Izzo’s squad that lost in the first round of the NCAA Tournament to Middle Tennessee State. He’s shown flashes of high-level play with the Spartans, and he’ll be a great addition to this improving Billikens squad. Needless to say, Travis Ford is killing it, and he hasn’t even coached his first game yet as the head coach of Saint Louis.
