Last Night in the A10: Opening Night Edition

A10 conference play tipped off with two games on tap. As the schedule would have it, Davidson’s Matt McKillop and Fordham’s Keith Urgo faced each other in what was the first A10 game for both as a head coach.

Davidson 57 Fordham 43

Host Rams suffered their first setback since a November 11 loss at Arkansas. Not an artistic offensive gem of a game as Davidson managed an offensive efficiency of just 84 while host Fordham checked in at a subpar 63. Wildcats managed just 3 of 12 (25%) beyond the arc while Fordham was 3 of 31 (9.7%). Rostyslav Novitskyl was Fordham’s lone double figure scorer netting 12 points off the bench. Reed Bailey and Desmond Watson of Davidson shared scoring honors with 15 points each.

Dayton 69 Duquesne 57

Flyers earned their fourth straight victory. Dayton posted an ungodly 28% turnover rate. When not losing the ball the host five connected on 51% of their tries from two and 40% (8 of 20) from three. They also owned a 14-7 edge on the offensive boards. Duquesne saw their three game win streak end despite 15 points and 8 rebounds from Jimmy Clark. Dayton’s DaRon Holmes took Kenpom.com MVP honors with a 22 point 13 rebound (7 offensive) effort. Dayton held a 103-85 advantage in offensive efficiency.
