Jeameril Wilson Commits to Loyola Ramblers

The Easter bunny brought one more treat for the Loyola Ramblers this weekend and its transfer Jeameril Wilson commitment. Wilson will be coming back to Chicago after four years of playing at Lehigh University in the Patriot League. Jeameril will be playing not too far from his high school days as a Chicago native having gone to Notre Dame Prep in Niles. Gentile Arena is just 10 miles away from his high school gym, so it truly is a coming home party for Wilson. Jeameril is the third transfer portal pickup for Drew and team in the past seven days. The Ramblers currently have 12 scholarships of the 13 filled with Wilson’s pledge, so expect Drew to keep working in the next few days to lock up that final spot.

Jeameril Wilson took charge of his impact at Lehigh this past year, seeing an increase in almost every box score category. Standing at 6’7 averaging 11.2 points, 4.8 rebounds, 2.1 assist and .8 blocks per game, while starting 30 of 32 games this past year with 28 minutes per game. From the film I have caught Jeameril I see has tremendous ball handling and uses his height to his advantage. He loves to separate himself with a few crossovers and a handful of times really knows how to time up a quick spin move. Dunks are an active part of his game but he really uses his outside game to work inside. Not many post moves with being 6’7 but this past year a huge increase in him shooting from three. So pretty much a joy for Drew to have as he seems to develop a top of the perimeter game and quick burst to the hoop when needed. Jeameril knows how to position his frame on defense to get a great block and then use that in some clips to push out the ball to teammates ahead. I think with his size and his increase in shooting from three has him fitting in very well into our offense that looks for guys who want to spread the ball and get out ahead of their opponents.
