Davidson’s senior point guard Jack Gibbs, who recently hurt his shoulder in practice, is still considered a gameday decision according to Bob McKillop. Gibbs did not play in Davidson’s exhibition game, and even though he’s expected to be the team’s leading scorer once again, the Wildcats still flourished without him. They destroyed Belmont Abbey 104-58 behind a whopping 21 made three pointers. Gibbs will only add to Davidson’s offense when he returns, whether that be for Saturday’s game or shortly following.
Davidson’s Jack Gibbs (shoulder) will be a gameday decision for Saturday’s opener vs. Appalachian State, per Bob McKillop.

With or without Gibbs, the Wildcats should have no problems with Appalachian State on Saturday night. Kenpom ranks the Mountaineers as having the 298th best team in the nation, and the Wildcats have a 95% chance of winning their home-opener. If Gibbs is not in the lineup on Saturday, expect to see him return for Davidson’s next game. The Wildcats will travel to Orlando to play a very difficult Clemson team in the first round of the Puerto Rico Tipoff (moved due to concerns over the Zika virus).
