Spiders Defeat George Washington
Washington, D.C. —
The Richmond Spiders defeated the George Washington Colonials 73-70 at the Charles E. Smith Center in Foggy Bottom. The Spiders were led by strong performances from Blake Francis & Nick Sherod. Blake finished the night shooting 7-15 from the field, and knocked down 2 3’s. Nick Sherod broke out of his slump, scoring 15 points which were huge in tonight’s final. The Spiders shot 25-59 (42.9%) as a unit tonight.
Fending Off the Colonials
This game was no cake walk as the final score indicates. Richmond began the half on a nice run, getting up by as many as 12. George Washington did not go away, and cut the lead to just 3, where it ultimately stayed. Armel Potter scored 17 points tonight for the Colonials, along with 17 from Maceo Jack.
