NET Rankings

3 in the top 25 and 7 in the top 75 isn't terrible. Would definitely like to see us get more than half of the conference in the top 100 though.

This is pretty awesome to see... I wonder if Duquesne is getting its “home” games to count as neutral wins. That could be boosting the Dukes as high as they are. I don’t necessarily get how these rankings take into account SOS though. It feels like Richmond, Duquesne, and especially San Diego St. shouldn’t be as high as they are. I’m certainly not complaining though. We’ll take 3 in the T25 any day.

Here's the updated NET for the Atlantic 10:

14. Dayton
54. Richmond
58. VCU
61. Saint Louis
66. Duquesne
72. George Mason
80. Rhode Island
99. Davidson
123. La Salle
139. Massachusetts
180. St. Bonaventure
210. Saint Joseph's
232. George Washington
267. Fordham

Bummer of a last few days for the league as a whole, but entering conference play with 8 in the top 100 certainly wouldn't be bad. Need the teams at the top to beat up on the teams at the bottom if we want this to be a multi-bid league. My fear is that Richmond thru Davidson all suffer like 7 losses, and the only sure-fire team that's going to make the Big Dance is Dayton. The Atlantic 10 loves to cannibalize itself.

Updated rankings (12/28/19):

13. Dayton
55. Richmond
60. VCU
61. Saint Louis
66. Duquesne
73. George Mason
83. Rhode Island
97. Davidson
124. La Salle
137. Massachusetts
180. St. Bonaventure
210. Saint Joseph's
229. George Washington
266. Fordham

Seems to be a big pile up forming in that 2-8 range. We need a few teams to emerge from the pack and sneak into the top 40 or even top 30 NET range. This weekend has some big opportunities. Richmond or George Mason (preferably both) winning on the road would probably be Q1 or Q2 victories.

These rankings seem pretty fair across the board. Dayton might be a tad high but with their resume it’s hard to argue. Also a little surprised to see GMU so low given their record but they’re 2nd in Luck and 322 in strength of schedule according to Kenpom.

I don't get why there's such a huge discrepancy between our NET ranking and every other metric. I feel like we're around 120 in all the other ones (127 on KenPom right now). We have some road wins (not a given at this point in the season) and what should be a Q1 win against Rutgers. I'm guessing we could shoot up the NET rankings if we win at GW and at Mason over the next 5 days...

Maybe NET is completely ignoring injuries + I don’t think NET factors in any preseason expectations which might help the Bonnies in Kenpom, etc.

Updated NET (updated for games through 1/7/19)

Change since Friday in ( ) +3 meaning a team improved from 68 to 65 for example. -3 meaning dropped from 65 to 68

8. Dayton (+1)
30. VCU (+13)
50. Richmond (+14)
62. Duquesne (+13)
69. Saint Louis (+10)
86. Rhode Island (+4)
99. Davidson (-3)
115. George Mason (-13)
126. Massachusetts (+5)
130. LaSalle (-6)
170. St. Bonaventure (+2)
226. St. Joseph's (-5)
256. George Washington (-8)
260. Fordham (+2)

Solid 5 day stretch for the top 5 trying to stay relevant in potential at-large discussions....Realistically Dayton and VCU getting at large and another tourney winner is the best chance to get 3 bids still...but Richmond/Duq have a decent chance to make a run. SLU has a non-zero chance as well, but based on recent play, seems unlikely (though I hope I'm wrong)

I think Richmond has the best shot to be that 3rd team given its resume, but still a lot of work to do. 2 Q3 losses for Duquesne is concerning to me.

I agree with that. I'm just still scarred from the beating Duq put on SLU a week ago that I just assume they will win out.

To be fair, that felt like SLU’s worst game all season, and I think that’s a game if the Billikens just hit a few layups.

I wonder where that 5 point Richmond bump came from.

Several SOS results went their way last night..McNeese got a nice bump with a road win over a higher rated Abilene Christian, CSUN and Radford also won. Hampton lost, but that didn't hurt much. A Wisconsin win last night would have been really nice to have.

I’m an Illinois fan, so I was rooting on the road win over Wisco despite my A-10 interests, but I still think the UW is a good win when the season ends.

Wonder if anyone will be able to crack the top 30 before the end of the season. I have a tough time believing anyone ranked in the 50s is going to make the NCAA Tournament, especially without a win over Dayton.
