I'm not sure why I'm going down this road but here goes..
There's a difference between character and mental soft/toughness you're talking about and actual physical strength. There was only one game this season that I thought the fight went out of the team and that was against Davidson. I think they were overwhelmed, were getting their asses handed to them, and just got exasperated. Every other game, even this most recent against SLU, it's not like they quit. They just got beat. Sometimes badly.
I wish the team was "tougher" too. Physically. But you can't for a second tell me this team doesn't want to win. I'm so fucking sick of hearing that. Oh they didn't want it enough/the other team wanted it more. Bullshit. Watch the damn games. I wish Shoon was built like Amadi. He isn't. I wish our guys fouled harder and finished and-1's. They don't. It's OK to wish they were physically tougher, but you can't do anything about that other than wait for them to get older, bigger, stronger.
There's a lot that needs addressing in the offseason, but will/desire to win isn't one of them. That's there. The physical game itself needs to catch up. Size, strength, and playing at A10 level. It's what we had this year. Someone else mentioned the loss of Court and LDG was severely underestimated by the fan base. Stockard was by far the best all-around player on the team in 2019, and maybe in 2018 as well. He and LDG made everyone on that team last season better and hid some flaws.
