Bob Lanier Passes

My Dad was at Bona at the same as BL, and told stories about Lanier's daily struggle with getting his legs to fit under those tiny Plassmann and De La Roche desks.

From his four years at SBU to his 40+ years with the NBA, I never heard a bad word about him. TNT did a nice 5 minute special on him last night and all of the crew weighed in on the personal stories of Lanier.

The only thing good about how old I am is that I had the honor of watching him play. Roughly 40 times from Sec. 8, Row S, Seat 4 and once from the gray seats in the Aud. I also remember him wandering the streets in Olean sporting an OHS letter jacket.

The thing about Bob is that he carried himself in the Franciscan spirit which he got from SBU. Kind of like Dr. Malcolm Wallace, Griff and Tony Oney despite far different occupations.
