Bonnies @ URI-Kingston (Wed. 12/30/20 at 4:00 pm)

I’d put this game at a 25 percent chance of happening considering the team is allowed to break quarantine to go home and catch covid. Another smooth move by the brilliant minds who brought us our 2-game ooc.

Lady Bonnies played St John's last Tuesday. Today the St John's ladies went on pause due to Tier 1 positive. Let the dominos fall.

Under normal circumstances I would like their chances against this rhody team but with 11 days off, who knows. I've watched enough of them this year to know the Bonnies are better.

URI-kingston has some actual experience this year against good opponents. They played something resembling an ooc schedule and they’re in game shape and I’m nervous they will absolutely run us off the floor.

If that happens, expect roasting of SBU hierarchy failure to schedule any games here to surge....URI actually has played a very tough schedule, when they have played, should be favored just on that....

Agree, I think the Athletic department will get a lot of flack if the Bonnies come up short on an NCAA bid (lets be honest, they probably will not make it).

I do not think Rhody will run them off the floor though. Mitchell going down hurt them a lot and Fats is playing more like Fr-So version than the Jr version we saw last year. Dowtin graduating was a big blow. Fatts is the only one averaging double digits but hes doing it on 32% shooting and 21% from 3. He can get his 14 per game if it takes him 20 shots to do it. Be my guest. They dont have anybody that can compete with Shoon in terms of size. The other Mitchell brother is not very skilled. Walker is their best rebounds at almost 8 per game but hes 6'7. Ut oh, I am creeping on Lil Bona X's preview again....

Last time I was in Kingston RI (besides driving past on interstate) was for fairly easy NCAA triumph 102-93 in 1968 vs. good Boston College squad (Terry Driscoll, Steve Adelman etc.) Butler with 34, Lanier 32, Hayes 19. Lanier shot 12-15 with 15 boards. Recall having to sleep on floor of motel room shared with many others, drunk, after first over-tasting of Narragansett Beer. Imagine scoring 102 in a game, vs. NCAA caliber team, no dunking, no 30-second clock....

I like you, GregMitch. You’re reaffirming so many of the stories my Dad, class of ‘69 (2nd Dev party boy), has related my way for three decades.

3rd Dev, 1968-1970, after 3rd Rob (John Hayes was 2nd Rob, Vinny Martin was down my hall on 3rd Rob)....

True story: A week or two after that BC game I took bus with girlfriend to Raleigh for the Eastern finals vs. N. Carolina. Kids who arranged trip said we'd be staying in a Howard Johnson's but instead it would be the WALTER Johnson in sketchy part of town and strange folks roaming the halls. And on the way down: in the bus lavatory--my glasses fell off due to a jolt --and went right into the shitter! Could barely see game (and we lost) and then next day the bus driver handed me the glasses back, well soaked in ammonia or some such....

Not sure how you even formulate a line with so little to see from bonas, but URI-K are 2 point favorites. Interestingly, most casinos didn’t bother probably because of the unknowns.

I dont have the energy to complain about the fact we've played only 2 games so far. It blows and we all know it.

That said, I've also seen Rhode Island play. We are a better team and should beat them. Fatts is doing his best Jack Gibbs impression in which he tries to do everything, to the point where you cant help but wonder if that's actually hurting them more than its helping. The rest of the team is solid but not overly impressive. Rhode Island has all the makings of a middle-tiered A10 team. They'll rack up some wins against bad teams, and against better teams when they catch them napping, or catch them when no one can slow Fatts down that day.

I would like to to think our guys will be too fired up to finally play, are too experienced and cohesive, and generally just too good to let any of the above get them. Then again, what I think doesn't matter. Who knows. Just play, and then Winn.

Well, I did predict last week that overrated Winston would transfer at end of year. So he just moved it up a few months....Activating Roberts probably the nail in the coffin....maybe Carpenter should have stuck around....

Really shitty move by Winston, but the lack of foresight by our staff and entire athletics department continues to stunt SBU’s potential growth. You simply can’t fail to fill the scholarship allotment, given today’s transfer epidemic.

Has anyone taken a glance at the overall records across SBU sports lately? Besides men’s hoops and swimming/diving, it’s pretty goddamn ugly. What’s going on down there?
