Duquesne’s Rene Castro to transfer out of the program

It was announced on Monday night, per Verbal Commits, that Duquesne’s Rene Castro would be transferring out of the program. The rising senior requested his release and was granted it just a few hours later. He’ll have one year of eligibility remaining, and he’ll be able to play immediately without having to sit out.

Castro averaged 7.1 points and 2.1 assists per game this past season. He played 19.1 minutes per contest, providing some valuable minutes off the bench. Castro had a career-high 26 points earlier this season against St. Francis (PA). Castro becomes the third Duke to transfer this offseason.
