Bona has not played Notre Dame since Dec. 22, 1994, when Jim Baron was in his third season as the Head Coach at Bona. The Irish prevailed in the game, winning 57-to-54. The Bonnies ended up going to the NIT that season, losing to Marquette in the second round.
The Bonnies and the Fighting Irish have squared off seven times before, with Notre Dame prevailing in five of those games.
This year, the Fighting Irish finished tied for second in the ACC with North Carolina and will head to the ACC Tournament in Brooklyn as the conference’s #2 seed.
ESPN’s Joe Lunardi currently has Notre Dame as a #10 seed in his latest bracketology update.
This is a big-time get for St. Bonaventure Athletic Director Joe Manhertz and St. Bonaventure Head Coach Mark Schmidt. It will be the first time that Bona has played in New York City with fans able to attend since January 2020.
