Game of the Night: Dayton at Saint Mary’s | 10:00 ET | Fox Sports Ohio
Coming off an 88-83 overtime victory against Georgia State on Saturday, the Dayton Flyers have traveled all the way out to California for a showdown with Saint Mary’s. Entering Tuesday night’s contest at 9-2 overall, Saint Mary’s undoubtedly possess as the Flyer’s toughest non-conference opponent. Ranked for much of last season, the Gales began this season among the nation’s top 25 teams before dropping back to back close games against Washington State and Georgia. Since its loss to Georgia, though, Saint Mary’s has been on a roll. The Gales will be looking to pick up their 10th win of the season and add to their resume with a win over Dayton Tuesday night.
As for Dayton, the Flyers did receive some good news on the injury front as Xeyrius Williams was cleared to play last week. A junior forward who can help spread the floor, Williams brings both extra size and experience to Dayton’s lineup. While it’s unclear whether Williams will make the start on Tuesday, he should be good to go and provide the Flyers with a lift. If Dayton wants to have any chance of pulling off the upset, senior leader Darrell Davis and A-10 player of the week Josh Cunningham must put together big performances. Should those two get going, the Flyers might have a shot, but a lot will have to go right as double digit underdogs.
Prediction: Saint Mary’s 78, Dayton 65
Duquesne vs Lamar | 7:00 ET | Atlantic 10 Network
After dominating its last five opponents, Duquesne is in for a little tougher test on Tuesday night. Taking on an 8-2 Lamar squad, the Dukes could find themselves in for a battle. With a win, Duquesne would pick up its sixth straight victory and improve to 8-3 overall.
Prediction: Duquesne 75, Lamar 71
VCU vs Winthrop | 7:00 ET | Atlantic 10 Network
Coming off a bounce back 85-79 win over Bucknell on Saturday, VCU will stay at home as an always challenging Winthrop team comes to town. While Winthrop might not be quite as good as years past, do not expect the Eagles to go down without a fight. That said, I think VCU’s firepower will ultimately prove to be too much for Winthrop to handle.
Prediction: VCU 86, Winthrop 73
Richmond vs Bucknell | 7:00 ET | Mid-Atlantic Sports Network
2-8 vs 4-7. It’s going to take a true, dedicated, and probably slightly crazy fan to watch Richmond take on Bucknell Tuesday night. With virtually nothing on the line, expect this contest to make for quite painful “entertainment.”
Prediction: Bucknell 76, Richmond 68
Saint Louis vs Campbell | 8:30 ET | Atlantic 10 Network
The A-10’s final game of Tuesday night will feature an up and down Saint Louis squad versus an equally inconsistent Campbell team. With both teams sitting at or just below the .500 mark, this game could go either way depending on who shows up ready to go. In the end, though, I think the Billikens will be ready to play.
Prediction: Saint Louis 70, Campbell 61
