A10 Talk Top 25 Countdown: #14 Terry Allen

Welcome to A10 Talk’s Top 25 Player Countdown. Each day, we publish a new article counting down the 25 best players in the Atlantic 10 this past season. Today, we feature #14 Terry Allen.

“Mr Consistent” clocks in at the #14 spot in our countdown. Allen is coming off his best season during his four years at Richmond. The 6’8 forward improved each year his was at Richmond. This year Allen averaged 17.3 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 2.2 assists. Allen’s presence will be greatly missed at Richmond this year.

Best Performances:

Terry’s best performance came the day after Thanksgiving in Las Vegas. The Spiders took on #14 California in the Las Vegas Invitational. Terry dominated the Golden Bears in every facet of the game. Allen finished with 34 points, 13 boards, and 2 assists.

Another notable performance came in a win over La Salle. Terry scored 26 points on 11-14 shooting. He also totaled 16 boards and 3 assists.

Key Stats:

Allen was Richmond’s second leading scorer, one behind TJ Cline. “Mr. Consistent” scored in double figures in all but three games this year. He brought it every night for Chris Mooney’s squad. According to KenPom he was apart of 26.4% possessions for the Spiders, ranking 6th best in the conference. Allen was an accurate from the floor, shooting 49.2%.

Team Effort:

There is no denying that Terry was an essential part to the Spider team. You would never have to worry about Terry having a bad game. The loss of Allen puts a lot of pressure for Chris Mooney to land another quality big this summer. Allen will join a list of Richmond greats who should have made the NCAA Tournament but didn’t. The longer they stay out of the tourney, the hotter Chris Mooney’s seat gets.
