A10 Gambling: Regular Season Champ Odds, First Week Betting Trends

Degenerates……assemble!

I couldn’t call myself Parlay Pyle unless I did a gambling post, right?

Never less, the college basketball season is upon us next week, and early season college basketball gambling is an absolute crapshoot. It’s the one time of year where idiots like us believe we are smarter than Vegas, just to find out we are, indeed, not. It’s still fun to try anyway, right?

There isn’t much early on for futures and win totals for our beloved Atlantic 10 teams, besides St. Bonaventure have a 15.5 conference win total line on Barstool Sportsbook.

The odds are out, though, for the regular season A10 champions. Here’s the odds from Barstool Sportsbook, where I found our best odds:

Bonnies -120

Richmond +300

VCU +600

SLU +3600

Dayton +2000

URI +2000

Davidson +3300

UMass +3500

Duquesne +10000

Mason +10000

St. Joe’s +10000

Fordham +15000

GW +15000

La Salle +15000

If you really don’t think Saint Bonaventure is going to win the regular season title, there are some really great odds for you to ponder over.

Anyway, let’s check out some early week betting trends in the A10.

Dayton is 6-1 against the spread in their last 7 home games.

It’s opening night against the UIC Flames. Dayton has not lost a home opener in a really long time. If Monday’s exhibition said anything, it’s that this team can score in so many different ways. I would absolutely hammer whatever the line is for UD next Tuesday.

Duquesne is 7-0 against the spread in their last 7 home games.

Duquesne opened up that sexy new arena, which has really helped them to dominate there so far. They open up against Rider, a team that Duquesne should beat even though Duquesne, like the rest of the conference, has a lot of unknowns. But let’s keep riding with the Dukies.

Siena is 5-2 against the spread in their last 7 games against St. Bonaventure.

Think what you want about the Bonnies and how good they are, but this is a surprising fact about them. Bonnies should win, but Siena has kept it somewhat close in the last few games against Bona. The Bonnies last played Siena two seasons ago, winning by 13. That’s close for Siena’s standards. Something to think about for opening night.

VCU is 4-1 against the spread in their last 5 home games.

Another team that is pretty much automatic on opening nights. VCU is experiencing some injuries, but they should still be a good team with some depth and that typical HAVOC defense. The Rams open up against Saint Peter’s, so let’s go ahead and hammer VCU next week as well.

Fordham unders have hit in 5 of their last 7 home games.

Duh. The Neubauer teams were deplorable on offense. But, a bunch of new guys mixed with a few returnees with a new, young coach in Kyle Neptune have Rose Hill buzzing for the first time in decades. Normally, I hammer Fordham unders like it’s my day job, but let’s hold off for a few games to see what this team does. We have literally nothing to go off of with this team.
