The Massachusetts Minutewomen (1-8, 0-0 A-10) lost a tough-fought game against the Yale Bulldogs (2-6, 0-0 Ivy League) 70-62 on Friday night. UMass drops their eighth straight game, and have one more game on the road before returning to the Mullins Center to wrap up the non-conference slate.
The Minutewomen had Jermany Mapp back after missing the last two games in Cancun due to injuring her shoulder. UMass also had Chinenye Odenigbo make her collegiate debut after missing the first nine games due to injury. Mikenzie Jones, Avery Childers, and Alexsia Rose all were suited up on Friday night but were game-time decisions to play. Jones, Childers, and Rose all have a chance to suit up when they play again on Wednesday.
UMass had Lilly Taulelei lead them in scoring with 13 points and was the only player in double digits for the Minutewomen. Mapp, Lilly Ferguson, Stefanie Kulesza, and Tori Hyduke all had 8 points apiece, Odenigbo and Bellamy both had 6 points, and Kristin Williams had 5 points. The Minutewomen kept the game close in the first and third quarters but ultimately were outrebounded by the Bulldogs 36-21.
The Minutewomen travel to Chestnut Hill on Wednesday night to face the Boston College Eagle (3-5 0-0 ACC) at 7pm. The Eagles lead the all-time series history 12-4 and Wednesday will be the 17th time these two teams meet.
