VCU made it five straight and eight of their last nine, soundly defeating Richmond 77-57 at the Siegel Center on Friday. VCU (18-7) is now 11-3 in A10 play. Richmond (17-10) dropped to 8-6 in conference.
Possessions: 64- Both teams average 68 possessions per game in A10 play. This mark was just slightly, though not drastically, off the tempo.

What Richmond did well. Hang around for a half and limit turnovers. The score was tied at 28 at intermission. Richmond was right there. The second half, another story. Chris Mooney’s club committed just eight turnovers for an excellent 13% TO rate (VCU shows a conference best 24% defensive TO rate).
What VCU did well. Run extremely efficient offense, especially the last 20 minutes and limit their own turnovers as well. Mike Rhoades’ Rams are last in conference with a 21% TO rate on the offensive end. On this night they matched Richmond’s number, committing just eight turnovers for a 13% rate. Limiting turnovers and efficient offense go hand in hand as VCU displayed with their outstanding 120 efficiency.
Adrian Baldwin and Vince Williams of VCU shared game scoring honors with 15. Tyler Burton paced the Spiders with 13 points and a game-high 11 rebounds. Baldwin added a game-high five assists. Richmond took 25 of their 55 field goal attempts from beyond the arc. That was not the answer as they shot 6 of 25 for 24%. Richmond had a 41% eFG percentage, VCU checked in at 51%. Spiders were held to 8 of 23 shooting the final 20 minutes.
Richmond visits George Washington on Tuesday while the Rams are back at home hosting George Mason on Wednesday.
