Dayton to face Nebraska in the first round of the Wooden Legacy

Grant LabedzBy Grant LabedzJuly 15, 2016No Comments2 Mins Read

It was announced awhile back that Dayton would be participating in the 2016 Wooden Legacy tournament over Thanksgiving weekend, but it was announced on Wednesday by CBS Sports that the Flyers would play Nebraska in the first round. Dayton should be one of the best teams in the field next season, but the Flyers will have their work cut out for them if they want to take the trophy home from Anaheim. First round games will be played on November 24th, and the Flyers will play the winner or the loser of Portland and UCLA. On the other side of the bracket, New Mexico will take on Virginia Tech while Cal State Northridge plays Texas A&M.

First-round matchups for the Wooden Legacy are set, sources told @CBSSports. UCLA/Portland, Dayton/Nebraska, VT/New Mexico, Texas A&M/CSN.

Nebraska would be a much more dangerous team had Andrew White III decided to stick in Lincoln for his senior season, but he announced his intent to transfer. Regardless, the Cornhuskers will return some talent that will be sire to give Dayton a run for its money in the first round of the tournament. The Flyers are expected to be on of the best teams in the A-10 once again as they’ll return a load of talent under Archie Miller.
