Liberty to host VCU in the 2016-17 non-conference season

Grant LabedzBy Grant LabedzJune 13, 2016No Comments1 Min Read

It was reported on Monday by CBS Sports that Liberty would host VCU in the 2016-17 non-conference season. The game will be played on November 15th and will be the return game in the home-and-home series that began last year. The Rams took down the Flames 85-57 at the Siegel Center last season.

Though having home court advantage may help Liberty slightly, this game should be lopsided regardless. The Flames went 13-19 last season and did not win a non-conference game against a Division 1 opponent. That being said, last year’s leading scorer John Dawson will be back for the Flames. They’ll have the challenge of stopping JeQuan Lewis and Mo Alie-Cox once more, a feat that won’t be easy next season.
