VCU to host Georgia Tech in the 2016-17 non-conference season

Grant LabedzBy Grant LabedzJune 8, 2016No Comments2 Mins Read

It was reported on Wednesday by Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports that VCU would be hosting Georgia Tech in the 2016-17 non-conference season. The game will be played on December 7th and will be a return game for the home-and-home series between these two programs. The Rams fell to the Yellow Jackets 64-77 last season and will be looking to split the series with Georgia Tech when it comes to the Siegel Center.

The Rams did not play their best basketball in Atlanta last season as they allowed the Yellow Jackets 50 points in the second half. Georgia Tech loses 4 pivotal seniors this offseason, including Marcus Georges-Hunt who scored a game-high 20 points against the Rams. Though VCU’s JeQuan Lewis and Mo Alie-Cox had bad games, Justin Tillman led the way with 18 for the Rams. All 3 of those players will be back and ready for revenge on December 7th. This should be a great matchup between these two teams and a good non-conference opponent for the Rams before heading into A-10 play.
