Rhode Island to host William & Mary in the 2016-17 non-conference season

CBS Sports reported on Tuesday that Rhode Island would face off against William & Mary as part of its non-conference schedule this upcoming season. The game will be played in Kingston on December 22nd and will certainly be a good test for the highly touted Rams.

The William & Mary Tribe is a very solid team that’s been very close to making the NCAA Tournament in recent years. Though it always seems to fall just short in its conference tournament, it knows how to play in the regular season. Take last year’s A-10 battle for example; the Tribe narrowly lost to the Flyers (66-69) in Dayton Arena. Last year’s leading scorers Omar Prewitt and Daniel Dixon will be back and looking to pull the upset.

Rhode Island returns loads of talent and should be a top 25 team heading into the 2016-17 season. This game will be a good test for the Rams before they head into conference play seeking a first place finish in the league.
