Northeastern graduate transfer Kwesi Abakah commits to Richmond

Grant LabedzBy Grant LabedzJune 4, 2016No Comments1 Min Read

It was reported on Thursday that Northeastern graduate transfer and big man Kwesi Abakah committed to the Richmond Spiders for his final year of eligibility. The 6’8″ forward did not see a lot of court time with the Huskies last season but will be a pivotal piece to this Spiders team in the 2016-17 season. Richmond lacks a true center but should get plenty of help down low from Abakah. He averaged 1.5 points and 2.2 rebounds per game last season. Though filling the void that Terry Allen left won’t be easy, a commitment like this certainly helps. He will be eligible immediately for Richmond.

Richmond will look to bounce back from a rather disappointing 16-16 finish last season. The return of seniors T.J. Cline, Marshall Wood, and ShawnDre’ Jones will certainly help the Spiders’ cause. Also, rising sophomore Khwan Fore shows a lot of promise for the upcoming season.
