A-10 Tourney Wednesday Recap: La Salle upends Duquesne, Saint Louis moves on

La Salle Explorers 88, Duquesne Dukes 73

Well this isn’t what we expected. In a game to remember, La Salle’s Jordan Price exploded for 36 points and 12 rebounds, leading his team to an upset first round win over Duquesne in the A-10 Tournament. The Explorers lead nearly the entire second half and shot a collective 53.8% from the field, including 50% (11-22) from three-point range. This marks just their fifth win over an A-10 team this season and places them in a matchup next round with Davidson, a team they lost to by 13 points earlier in the season.

While this is certainly a great win for La Salle, their celebration will be short lived. The reality is, if they keep winning, they will have games the rest of the weekend. We’ll see if they can make it two-in-a-row tonight at 9 PM ET.

Saint Louis Billikens 83, George Mason Patriots 78

Marcus Bartley led the Billikens scoring attack off the bench, scoring a career-high 24 points, as Saint Louis took down George Mason 83-78. The Patriots trailed 32-23 at halftime but were able to come back, cutting the deficit to as little as two points with just 12 seconds remaining. However, Mike Crawford was able to hit he game-clinching free throws at the end for SLU to close it out, marking the Billikens’ first win since Feb. 20th against Fordham. They move on to face George Washington in tomorrow’s second game out of four in Brooklyn. We’ll see if they can pull off the upset and beat the Colonials.
