5-star SLU commit continues Ford’s red-hot recruiting streak

Mat Shelton-EideBy Mat Shelton-EideOctober 26, 2016No Comments1 Min Read

Today’s commitment of 5-star Saint Louis product Carte’Are Gordon continues new head coach Travis Ford’s insane hot streak on the recruiting trail. Gordon, the No.9 prospect in ESPN’s 2018 class, is the only top-10 prospect from the class to commit thus far, giving the Billikens a head start in leading the national rankings — yes national — for the 2018 class.

Premature to crown SLU and Ford the recruiting Kings of 2018? Of course. But the former Oklahoma State and UMass head coach has quickly surged to the top of the recruiting mountain in the Atlantic 10.

Gordon will follow a 2017 recruiting class that consists of No.57 ESPN prospect, Jordan Goodwin, as well as 4-star top-150 prospect Hasahn French.

Picked to finish 14th out of 14 teams in this year’s Atlantic 10 preseason rankings, the rebuild at Saint Louis likely won’t happen over night. But as long as Travis Ford continues to stockpile talent for future SLU recruiting classes, it won’t be long before the Billikens are back toward the top of the conference rankings where the Chaifetz faithful became so accustomed as late as just three seasons ago.
