It certainly took some time, but George Washington Head Coach Chris Caputo has rewarded fans for their patience.
Former Kansas State Wildcat Maximus Edwards announced his commitment to GW on Wednesday, making him Caputo’s first addition as Head Coach.

As a freshman last year, Edwards ended up redshirting after reaggravating a leg injury from his senior year of high school. Because of that redshirt, Edwards still has four years of collegiate eligibility.
Edwards is an athletic, 6-5 wing with a complete offensive game. He has a solid jump shot, is an excellent rebounder for his size, and can finish powerfully at the rim. Edwards is also a prolific dunker, he won the 2021 Grind Session World Championship Slam Dunk Contest.

Edwards played for one of New York City’s high school basketball powerhouses, Our Saviour Lutheran School in the Bronx. His teammates there included St John’s duo, former Big East Rookie of the Year Posh Alexander and Dylan Addae-Wusu, and Pittsburgh’s Max Amadasun. During Edwards’ senior year, he led Our Saviour Lutheran with 19.9 points per game, shooting 57.5% from the field, 35.9% from three, and averaging 6.1 rebounds, 2.9 assists, and 1.7 steals.

Prior to choosing GW, Edwards was considering Northern Illinois and Temple.
After Joe Bamisile and Brayon Freeman transferred, GW was looking especially thin in the backcourt and on the wing. James Bishop and Brendan Adams are the only non-big men to return to GW who played significant minutes this past season. Edwards will provide much needed depth and versatility and looks to be in line for major minutes as the roster currently stands.
