Bryce Golden Commits to Loyola Chicago

Bryce Golden commits to Loyola Chicago

Another day, and Loyola gets another commitment. This time the commitment comes from 6’9” forward, Bryce Golden. He originally is from Sharpsburg, MD and attended St James High School. Out of high school, Golden had a bunch of offers, to name a few: Illinois, Syracuse, and Texas Tech. He chose Butler. At Butler, Golden started all 88 games he played in for the past three seasons. He averaged just a touch under 9 points over the three years he started, while averaging 4.1 rebounds per game in that span, and nearly 24 minutes a game. His sophomore year, he was a key contributor to a Butler team who was Nationally ranked most of the season. That year, Golden made his biggest jump and was a major reason why Butler was so successful.

Golden does a lot well that doesn’t show up in the box scores. He has great footwork, plays big down low, scraps for boards, and sets solid ball screens. He’s also a capable passer and more than battle tested. We can speculate that Golden might slot into the starting lineup with the departure of Chris Knight. Hutson and Welch should get every opportunity to show growth in their game and fight for that spot. One thing to watch is his three point shot. He improved his three point percentage this year to a very respectable 34% (23-67). If he can solidify that, he very well might become an all-conference type player. We’re excited to welcome Bryce Golden to Loyola Chicago. He has one year of eligibility remaining. Bryce’s brother, Grant, played for Richmond.
