Travis Ford continued his hot recruiting streak this week, securing the commitment of 3 star 2019 recruit Yuri Collins.

Collins, a 5’11 point guard from St. Mary’s High School in St. Louis, has long been one of Travis Ford’s top targets in the 2019 class and is one of the top players in the St. Louis area. Collins is a strong, quick guard with exceptional passing skills. The Southside Prep product is one of the best passers in the country and the best pure point guard in the St. Louis area.

This weekend, Collins went on his official visit to SLU, along with SLU commit Terrence Hargrove Jr, a 6’8 small forward from East St. Louis, IL who is teammates with Collins on the Brad Beal Elite AAU team. Ford and Hargrove were apparently able to seal the deal and snag Collins, who has garnered interest and offers from power conference teams such as Iowa and Mizzou.

Since his arrival at SLU, Travis Ford has made recruiting St. Louis a priority. So far, it has paid off, as Ford as outrecruited both Cuonzo Martin at Mizzou and Brad Underwood at Illinois within the St. Louis area. Ford signed Jordan Goodwin, who was one of the best freshman in the A-10 last year, and Carte’Are Gordon, who projects as not just one of the best freshmen, but one of the best big men in the conference this year. Hargrove is a hyper-athletic wing who brings a ton of energy and is a great defender. Collins is a strong defender as well and will provide the Billikens with a true floor general, which they currently lack.

Collins’ commitment is a big deal for SLU, and even more evidence that Ford is assembling a tough, hard-nosed team that is well on its way to becoming the premier college basketball team in the state of Missouri.
