2018 forward Samba Diallo commits to Massachusetts

Grant LabedzBy Grant LabedzAugust 22, 2017No Comments2 Mins Read

Matt McCall and company got one of its biggest commitments on Monday, as 2018 forward Samba Diallo decided he’d be a Minuteman. The highly touted 6-7 wing has a grade of 82 according to ESPN, and he ranks 30th for his position, 28th in his region, and 5th in the state of New Jersey. Diallo is from Sparta, NJ at Pope John XXIII. McCall edged out St. Bonaventure and VCU: final schools that Diallo was also considering.

As a 4 star recruit and versatile forward, Diallo is a big pick up for Massachusetts. With his commitment, the Minutemen are setting themselves up nicely for success in the 2018-19 season. Rashaan Holloway will be a senior, dominating frontcourts in the Atlantic 10. Transfers Keon Clergeot, Curtis Cobb, Kieran Hayward, and Jonathan Laurent will be able to play after having sat out a year. And finally, guys like Luwane Pipkins, Unique McClean, and Chris Baldwin will be back in the mix for another season. Don’t expect too much out of this team this year, but Matt McCall will have this squad back in the mix in just two seasons.
