We’ve yet to watch a single 2014 recruit play an A-10 game but hardcore hoops junkies are already craving the 2015 signings. Here’s who have already given verbals to A-10 schools as well as who are the prized targets for each program in the Atlantic 10 for their 2015 classes.
DAVIDSON
Committed: none
Considering: The Wildcats are looking at three open spots with their 2015 class and according to ESPN are currently being considered by two top-100 recruits: 7’0 center, Josh Sharma (No.72) and 6’7 small forward, Tres Tinkle (No.46), which would give the Wildcats the best named player in all of college basketball. Unfortunately for A-10 broadcasters it appears as though Tinkle is likely headed elsewhere, as is Sharma who is projected as a likely future Wisconsin Badger.
DAYTON
Committed: Ryan Mikesell, Xeyrius Williams – The Flyers have landed themselves a pair of forwards in Mikesell (6’6 180 small forward) and Williams (6’8 205 power forward).
Considering: They have one spot remaining and two offers out to two ESPN top-100s, Carlton Brag (No.14) and Esa Ahmad (No.42) although both are favored to end up elsewhere.
DUQUESNE
Committed: none
Considering: The Dukes (currently) have just one spot available in the 2015 class and have one top-100 offer out to Findley Prep’s Dillon Brooks (No.69).
FORDHAM
Committed: Matt Zignorski – The Rams landed the 6’1 ESPN 2-star shooting guard Zignorski and have just one spot remaining for their 2015 class.
Considering: No ESPN top-100s are currently considering Fordham at this time.
GEORGE MASON
Committed: none
Considering: The Patriots are looking to fill three spots in their 2015 class with their prized target in the form of Chesterfield, VA native, Kenny Williams (ESPN No.84). Williams has offers from the likes of Indiana, Georgetown and Virginia Tech as well as A-1o schools Saint Joseph’s and Richmond but is rumored to have North Carolina and VCU at the top of his list with an offer from the later.
GEORGE WASHINGTON
Committed: Jordan Rolland, Collin Goss – The Colonials currently have commitments from the 6’2 3-star point guard Rolland and 6’10 power forward, Goss, meaning unless someone heads elsewhere, their 2015 recruiting class is what you just read.
Considering: See above.
LA SALLE
Committed: none
Considering: The Explorers are expected to have four available roster spots for their 2015 class and currently have two offers out to in-state top-100s: 6’4 shooting guard, Levan Alston (ESPN No.81) and 6’8 power forward, Horace Spencer (No.77). Neither are expected to land at La Salle with Alston currently looking most likely to land at Temple, Notre Dame, Cincinnati or VCU and Spencer currently predicted by 247 Sports to land at UNLV.
UMASS
Committed: Luwane Pipkins – The Minutemen have had some recent success with sub-6′ point guards and that’s what they have in Chicago native Pipkins at 5’11 160.
Considering: UMass will have no other available roster spots once Pipkins signs his LOI.
RHODE ISLAND
Committed: Leroy Butts – The 6’8 power forward Butts chose Rhody over the likes of Depaul, Rutgers and Cincinnati.
Considering: Rhode Island is one of a handful of A-10 schools fighting over the services of ESPN top-100 Levan Alston but being considered by two other non top-100 ESPN 4-stars in 6’4 shooting guard, Matt Milon and the 6’10 Steven Enoch who has seen is stock skyrocket and now holds offers from the likes of defending National Champ UConn as well as Mephis, Oregon, VCU and Arizona State, to name a few. After landing top-100 point guard, Jared Terrell, late in the last recruiting cycle, don’t put it past Dan Hurley to steal one of these guys out from under the big boys.
RICHMOND
Committed: none
Considering: The Spiders have one roster spot available for 2015 and, like VCU, are in the hunt for the hometown top-100, Kenny Williams, but aren’t considered a realistic possibility at this point.
SAINT JOSEPH’S
Committed: none
Considering: The Hawks are reportedly in the running for four ESPN top-100s: the aforementioned Kenny Williams, 6’6 Philadelphia native, Derrick Jones (No.27), Levan Alston and his Team Final teammate, 6’5-6’6 shooting guard, Trey Lowe.
SAINT LOUIS
Committed: Elliot Welmer – The 6’8 power forward Welmer fills one of two available spots in the 2015 class.
Considering: No ESPN top-100s are currently considering SLU at this time.
SAINT BONAVENTURE
Committed: none
Considering: The Bonnies have four spots to fill with their 2015 class but will likely do that under-the-radar as they aren’t currently in the running for any elite level recruits.
VCU
Committed: none
Considering: The Rams currently have three available spots in their 2015 class and are being considered by eight ESPN top-100 recruits although are rumored to only be actively recruiting six of those: Malik Beasley (No.52), Tevin Mack (No.65), the previously mentioned Levan Alston, Kenny Williams and Trey Lowe as well as Charlotte, NC native, Rayjon Tucker (No.100). They are also in the mix for the aforementioned Steven Enoch and recently put out an offer to 4-star recruit, Keith Stone. Beasley seems to be slipping off that list and from all indications the Rams seem to be the most focused on Mack, Tucker and the batch of shooting guards. There is a very real possibility that, like their 2014 class, they could end up with three more top-100s to add to their roster come 2015.
