Game of the Day: Duquesne vs. Cornell
There’s only one A-10 team in action on Monday night; by default, Duquesne-Cornell gets the nod as the game of the day. The Dukes are in action once again after an 8 day hiatus; as one of the few teams not participating in a Thanksgiving Week Tournament, they got an extended break. Unfortunately, Duquesne’s had a poignant loss on its palette for the last week. Robert Morris went into the Palumbo Center and absolutely embarrassed the Dukes. The Colonials had almost twice as many offensive rebounds as Duquesne had field goals. Not good.
Against Cornell, this young and green Duquesne team will be tested once more. Nearly 33% of the Big Red’s points this season have come from free throws, a metric that ranks 2nd nationally. A key for Duquesne will be limiting fouls, as it seems the Dukes have the advantage in terms of shooting and on defense. Either way, this is a game that Duquesne can’t afford to lose, and it really shouldn’t lose this game barring a meltdown. However, we could say the same thing about the last one against Robert Morris…
